| چکیده | ||
| Mikhail Bakhtin, a Russian theorist, is one of the most prominent contemporary literary critics. With his theory of dialogicity in texts, he paved the way for proposing categories in criticism, such as metalinguistic and metatextual relations, and especially social metatexts. He divided narrative texts into two categories: monophonic and polyphonic. In monophonic texts, the discursive dominance of one dominant character blocks the way for multi-sided dialogue. Whereas in polyphonic narratives, the characters in the text have an equal opportunity to express their views. Shahrzad is the name of a play by the Egyptian writer Tawfiq al-Hakim, in which the author presents some social issues of today's world, borrowing from the ancient heritage of Iranian literature. This play features numerous characters, each of whom narrates an aspect of the discourse of social classes. This research is a descriptive-analytical method, based on Bakhtin's theory of dialogism, to study the paradigm governing the dialogues within this narrative in order to answer the questions: How has Toufiq al-Hakim attempted to provide the opportunity for multiple voices in his dramatic narrative to create a world that is consistent with the outside world? Also, in what ways can the polyphonic appearance that dominates this narrative be explained? The overall results indicate that the two super-characters, Shahriar and Shahrzad, in Shahrzad's narrative, are in a two-way confrontation, the main basis for the philosophical question of the text, but the other characters in the story, along with these two, have also found the opportunity to dialogue to create a world that is consistent with external reality | ||
